Dedicatory Recital and Reception

On Sunday, May 15, 2005, at 3:00 PM, St. John's Lutheran Church, North Queen Street in Maytown, will host a dedicatory recital for its new organ. The all-digital instrument, produced by the Buch-Walker Organ Company of Ephrata, replaces the 1915 Moller pipe organ that the congregation used for 90 years.

The new organ will produce the sound equivalent of 40 ranks of pipes and has many other features that make it a very helpful instrument for the church's worship. Keith Smith, St. John's organist of 30 years, will play the organ and he will be joined by a guest organist.

Following the concert, the parish's Social Ministry Committee will host a fancy light reception in the social hall. All are cordially invited to attend the dedicatory recital and reception. Questions may be addressed to Rev. Robert Lescallette, the pastor of the church, at 426-1643.

Patriotic Musicale

On Monday May 30th, 2005 at 7 PM. St. John's Lutheran Church in Maytown will host the annual "Patriotic Musicale". The very popular program , which has been in existence for 5 years, is very similar to the national Memorial Day celebrations that are held on Washington's Mall each year.

This year's theme is "20 Century Limited: the American Popular Song of our Time". Members of St. John's senior choir will sing solos and join in the singing of ensemble pieces that date from the 1930's through the 1980's. The second half of the program will feature a crowd sing-along of patriotic songs and a salute to the military services, accompanied by an ensemble from the Bainbridge Band.

The program closes with the singing of God Bless America. Afterwards, concert-goers may purchase strawberries and ice cream in the parish social hall. The concert is free, but a plate will be circulated, and profit from the food sale and offering will be equally divided between the patient activity fund of the Lebanon Veteran's Administration Hospital and Tsunami relief. Questions may be addressed to Pastor Lescallette at 426-1643. Seated is limited to the first 230 people.
